This year, Emma is playing softball! Some of you may remember two years ago when Emma played T-ball and was the only girl on her team. It didn't go over so well. She was going into Kindergarten, was a bit shy, and wasn't so sure about the game. Because of that, she didn't want to play last year. This year however, it is a different story. She is playing softball, coach pitch ball, and is loving it.
Tim is one of her coaches, which she likes as well and it is fun to see how much her understanding of the game has increased. She is on a girls team (which she loves) and they are starting to hustle a little bit more and can actually get people out now, which helps increase the motivation a bit. It is coach pitch and with a bit of practice, she is starting to hit them pretty well! There is a bit of playing in the dirt when boredom comes in, but it isn't as often. More often, they are just waiting in "ready" position for the next ball to come there way.
I still think the best part of softball for the girls is treat time, but that is okay. A bit of motivation never hurt anyone!

Softball occupies two nights of her week. She has practice on Wednesday nights and games on Thursday nights. They run until the end of July... and... I am ready for it to be done! Our nights during the week get too busy! But, I love seeing how much she enjoys it. She even exclaimed the other night "It is so fun going to softball when I LOVE the practice!" She is making some little friends too, which helps.
They vary the position played and the batting order so people get to try everything. Technically no one wins (yet) but I think the girls can tell how well they are doing. It is fun!
