Happy Birthday to me!

I also enjoyed a birthday during September!  I am a proud and happy 33!  I celebrated with the week off from work as I was inbetween the two jobs, a fun summer head-cold, and a lot of things to do around the house.  I also got to attend my first night of class on my birthday.  Nothing says Happy Birthday like Managerial Accounting - let me tell you!

I got some lovely bakeware for my birthday that I have been wanting for awhile, cute cards, and many little hugs and kisses from my little ones. (and - a pair of cowboy boots as a fun birthday present to myself).  I also celebrated with some friends in a unique way on the weekend before - the Warrior Dash.  I was a fill-in for a friend with a bum knee - but I am glad I decided to do it.  It was a beautiful, albeit a bit cold day and a fun way to exercise.  The nice thing is that this course wasn't on a ski slope, but at a horse farm.  So... along with the mud we were climbing and swimming through, there was probably a few unpleasant surprises as well.

Here a few pics from the day!  (which won't be up long as I do not thing I was supposed to copy them in the manner I did.)

But how fun!  Here I am with my friend Jess hamming it up for the camera!

Leaping over the fire pits

Finishing the run!

Again - having some fun with the cameras!

And - getting out of the mud pit.
Fun, right?!  Happy Birthday to me!  I have a feeling this is going to be a great year!

Two other random September pictures

And just a few random September pictures: Me and Tim! Enjoying the nice fall day! (I am randomly on this blog and liked the picture!)

And - a cute little project Evan did at his Sunday School introductory class.  Guess what it is....

--wait for it ---

Noah's Ark! They did a cute little art project out of a Chinet plate, markers, and mini beanie babies.  He loved it!

Birthday pictures

So long ago my baby turned 4!  I posted a few pictures of the party at the cabin, but we had a little celebration for him here as well.  Presents, Lightning McQeen pinata, candy, family, and cake!!

The Kelloggs came over to celebrate and help with the pinata.

It's hard to get a shot with everyone looking at the camera.

All he would say when asked about his birthday party, is "I want a pinata!"

Happy with presents: he got an airplane, a nerf gun, a fun game and other fun things!

The fun cake!
Pictures are a little late, but better late than never!

Not the best weekend

I will preface this post by saying that Sage is okay and that I can still see out of my eye.  :-)  It was not my best weekend...

We were at my parent's farm (which was really fun) helping them out with their new house.  These trips mean many gator rides, walks through the woods, and much outdoor time.  We were taking a gator ride when the first unfortunate mishap happened.  It was me, Emma and Evan, with Sage running along side the gator.  Everyone loves these trips - the kids enjoy zooming along the fields and Sage enjoys the good run she gets when we do this.  In this particular instance, we were heading home with Sage along side and she darts in front of the gator.  (now, she has done this in the past, darting in front of gators, bikes, cars - too much in fact that Tim and I have often joked that she is going to get hit and maybe should (lightly though) to teach her a lesson.)  Unfortunately, while I tried really, really hard to stop, I was unable to and the gator hit her... and then the front wheel ran her over.  Let's just say I am pretty much freaking out (on the inside) while trying to maintain some sort of calm on the outside for the kids so they wouldn't start freaking out.  Sage barks, whimpers quite a few times while I stop and the kids are saying "Mom! You ran over Sage!"  I, again incredibly freaking out, say somewhat in control "Okay - Umm... let's go find Daddy!  Daddy will know what to do!"  and continue mumbling about finding Tim while continually freaking out.   Luckily, Sage gets out from under the Gator and runs over to my side of the gator (she was hit on the passenger side."  She is whimpering, I don't see blood, and she jumps in the front of the gator.  Then.... I zoom as fast as I can to the new house, trying not to cry and keep it together, while comforting Sage and the kids as I am sure they were unsure what was going on.

By the time I get to the new house (maybe a 3-5 minute trip)  I zoom up the driveway, park it as quick as I can, and somewhat hysterically yell "Tim!  Tim, get out here!" I think he could tell by the tone of my voice that something was up as he arrives pretty quick to see what was going on.  Then, it all comes out - the story, what happene, with tears.  The kids keep saying "Mama ran over Sage, Mama hit Sage with the Gator" (which doesn't help at all) as Tim holds Sage still and tries to inspect her to see what damage the gator did.  We only saw a few bruises, some big scrapes, and one deep cut, but that appeared to be it.  She can walk - but still I am not so sure that I didn't do more damage.  Now, at this point, I think I have pretty much lost it and the tears are coming and the kids and Tim are giving me a hug.  To say I felt (and still feel)  horrible doesn't quite cover it.

We keep checking her out, watching her walk, checking her scrapes and overall she seems okay. Today she has been running a lot, we took her for a walk and have done other fun farm things.   So, other than the scrapes, she should be okay. Hopefully she has learned her lesson.

Now today, I was helping out the guys in the house.  Tim and Dad were putting in a beautiful wood floor in their living room, hallway, and bedroom. To help speed up the process, I helped during kid rest time.  We were going along pretty well, Tim was cutting a board, and I was bending down to put a board in place when:  whallop! -  hammer hits Kelly in the left eye.  Dad at just the perfect time went to hammer in a board and my eye lid caught the hammer on the backswing.  Ouch...

Now, I have a pretty good cut on my eye, some swelling, and a nice shiner.  Just what a girl wants in her third week into a new job.

So - yeah... some unfortunate things happened this past weekend.  Updates to come through the week -

Evan's first play date

Last week Evan was so excited to have his first play date with his best friend, Will. Will is at Evan's daycare and they have been best buds for awhile.  They do have their moments, per Evan "Will hit me today Mommy" which is said at least once a week. But, Evan isn't always the best share-er either.  However, most days, they are two little peas in a pod.

We have been talking about having a playdate for awhile with Will's parents and the time seemed right around Evan's birthday.  Especially because Evan kept wanting Will to come over for his birthday party.  As we weren't technically having a friend party for Evan', we figured a playdate was the next best thing.

Evan and I decided to wait outside for them to arrive last Saturday and around 2 or so in the afternoon, their car pulled into the driveway. This prompted Evan to jump up and down and yell "Will is here!  Will is here"  and, according to Will's Mom, Will was just as excited in the car.

Will jumped out of the car, ran and gave Evan a hug, and while I was talking to Will's Mom, Evan brought Will to the house and the two never looked back!

They played Monster Trucks, in the sandbox, on the swingset, and pushed trucks around.  Evan wanted to have cheese balls and smores for the afternoon and that is what we did!  The kids went around the backyard in the gator and gathered sticks for the fire and then piled them up and got everything ready.  I got out the smores stuff, called the neighbors (Kelloggs) and it was a party!  As the Kelloggs walked across the street, Evan happily told Will "Look! Now you can meet my cousins from across the street!"

they really enjoyed driving the gator together.

This was the view for most of the afternoon. The boys pushing trucks around.

The playdate was definitely a success and if it was up to Evan, Will would come over every day.

Soccer

We are a few weeks into soccer and I cannot really say that much has changed.  Emma seems to enjoy it and appears to be understanding the game a bit more and is starting to show signs of actually wanting to play - like going after the ball instead of talking with the other little girls on the field.  She always wants to play goalie right away and since her first game (thankfully) I haven't seen her laying down in the goal - so that is an improvement.  She shows signs of competitiveness at times and has stolen the ball a few times. This morning she had an unfortunate incident when a ball smacked her right in the side of the head.  That took the little one out of the game for a few minutes.

Patiently waiting for the ball.

The little Dynamo in action!
There are about two weeks left of soccer and I think the family will be happy when it is over.  For me, having three days dedicated to soccer seems like a lot for 6 year olds and at times it is a struggle to get Emma there.  But, I am glad we tried it and we will see if she wants to try it again.

That sneaky snake

Evan just started Sunday School this past week and had a special introductory class on Saturday to get him used to the format, what it will be like, and to meet his teachers.  (we are at a new church, so it was much appreciated by me as well).  He also received a beginners Bible, with a neat bookmark that has a fish hook and many different cards (just like the little key cards for gas or store member cards, etc that adults get to give to the cashier at stores) that list the different Bible lessons for each week.  Anyway - he got a really cute childrens Bible and he loves it.  Every night he wants to read stories and he really enjoys looking at the cute pictures and finding the giant (Goliath), the old man with a boat (Noah), and the big whale (Jonah).

Tonight, we were looking at the pictures and reading some stories and he wanted to find the story about the sneaky snake - aka - Adam & Eve.  So, we found the story and he was looking at the pictures and said, "See Mom - here the sneaky snake gets the girl to eat the apple from the tree." and I replied with something like, Yup, now they cannot go into the nice garden anymore.  And - with a typical Evan response, he says:

"Yea - she should have gotten the apple out of the fridge instead."

All about Evan

My baby boy is 4!  Each and every day my little man is funny, active, stubborn, kind, generous, frustrating, helpful, exasperating, loving, and 100% little boy.  He is really the big helper between the two.  Today he helped me clean up games, move all games and puzzles to a new shelf in a new room, make a chicken pot pie, and dust.  Then, he got mad at me while I was packing our lunches to go meet Emma and eat with her at school because I didn't pack mini bags of chips.  Instead, I packed chips from a larger bag into a tupperware.  NOT OKAY he said. Then, he stomped around for 10 minutes and refused to apologize and pulled the "Then I am not going to be your Mommy anymore!"   Then he pulled the big switcheroo when we got back and snuggled with me on the recliner and fell asleep... holding my hand.

This little guy is incredibly independent already and sees nothing wrong with going into the fridge to grab an apple (and washes it first and grabs the apple slicer to section it) or making his own peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.    He will maybe ask for help, but if I am busy he feels confident in doing things all by himself.  And, if we help and he doesn't want it, he immediately shuts down, and either sits on the floor or just crosses his arms in front of him, sticks out his lower lip and is silent.

Switching batteries in toys is maybe his favorite thing to do... or ride his gator... or pick tomatoes in the garden... or play cars or fly airplanes or draw pictures of tornadoes... or be a little stubborn stinker to Mom and Dad... or irritate Emma... or peddle his big boy bike up and down the driveway...

He still loves his BB (blanket). BB is his comforter and if he sad or hurt, he wants BB.  He needs BB to sleep and drags BB downstairs in the mornings to watch cartoons, drags BB in the truck when we go to the cabin, and cries for BB when he falls.

He comes into our room dragging his pillow, duckie, and BB at least one night a week "Mama?!  Mama, I am scared!" and he makes a bed on our floor.  As this has become somewhat normal, I now have a pillow and big comforter next to my side of the bed to make it comfy for him.

Evan loves his little stuffed duck "duckie" that he got from the Easter Bunny when he was a baby. That is always in his bed and makes many journeys with him, along with BB.  He has started talking lately like "Mom, can almost 4 year olds have duckies?  I love duckie"  So, I have to persuade him (along with Emma who likes to help with any conversation or argument) that 4 year olds can definitely have duckies.  He can have duckie as long as he wants duckie.  Evan has brought this up about not having duckie at least 5 times, so he is thinking pretty seriously about if he is too old for a stuffed duckie animal.

He has been a pretty fussy eater lately and mealtime is a struggle.   He loves fruit - all kinds of fruit and often asks for fruits for snacks.  Chocolate covered pomegranate seeds are another favorite.  Whenever we ask him what he wants to eat, it is always steak.  He could eat peanut butter & jelly sandwiches (except the crusts) for every meal and ifI would let him wash it down with chocolate milk, he would be in heaven.  Breakfasts consist of yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs.  If he is watching morning cartoons, he usually likes to snack on fruit loops or coco-puffs. Lunches are maybe mac-n-cheese, tomato soup, peanut butter and jelly or whatever food is customary for an stubborn 4 year old.  Supper is a struggle with  both he and Emma. I refuse to make more than one meal (although offer unlimited fruits & veges) but supper is usually a struggle to get the kids to eat meatloaf, chicken pot pie, or God forbid a pork chop.  We are working on it  --- slowly.  But, of course, he loves to have dessert (if we let him) vanilla oreos, ice cream, or the frosting on cake.

Evan loves looking at books and often will "read" them along with me.  While he still loves Lightning McQueen, this car isn't the preferred one anymore or the one that is always clutched in his hand or in his pocket or in his backpack.  He really likes monster trucks as of late and went to sleep holding onto one of those last night.  Games! This boy LOVES games and is pretty competitive.  Toy Story Yahtzee, Dominoes, Candyland (he loves poo-poo purple), Handbandz, pretend cards - you name it and he wants to play and win at it.

Evan may be a somewhat Mama's boy and while he is struggling with his independence and fighting our rules and learning to be a 4 year old boy, deep down, he is so sweet and I totally melt when he bats his little eyelashes at me or peers at me with his big blue eyes.

He is such a blessing every day and I am so thankful he came into our lives.

Why Emma doesn't like Obama

Emma and I were sitting at the kitchen table the other day while I was reading the newspaper. There was a picture of Mitt Romney in the paper and Emma asked "Hey Mom, who is that guy?"

"Well Emma, that is a picture of Mitt Romney. He is running to be the President of the United States."

Emma: "How about Obama? Isn't he President?"

Me: "Yup - but this year there is an election and Mitt Romney wants to be President and is running against President Obama."

Emma: "You know what Mom?  I don't like Obama. Do you know who my favorite President is? Ham Lincoln.   Ham Lincoln was, like a really good President. And Obama had a dog, but he couldn't bring his dog along, he just, like, left him.  Could you imagine moving and not taking Sage? Sage is a part of our family and if we left Sage, Sage would be sad and I would be sad. So, I don't why he didn't take the dog. That is why Ham Lincoln was my favorite President."

Ummm... what?  Kudo's to you if you could follow that.  The only thing that I can gather (and I don't even know if it is true) that maybe President Obama had a dog in Chicago and couldn't bring him to the White House? But Mrs. Barbara Bush had Millie and don't pretty much all other Presidents bring dogs?  So, maybe Emma's kindergarten class discussed this or something as I was thoroughly confused.

But, I thought it was a pretty funny story.

Wise Advice from a first grader

Emma and I went for a walk last night.  She wanted some alone time with Mom and it is nice to do that with her and get in some exercise. We usually take Sage and many times she wants to hold hands, so it is a nice way to relax and connect with my daughter.

Last night on our walk, we talked about first grade and how she liked it.  Discussion topics were her friends, her teacher and all that stuff that is important to 6 year olds.

I talked to her about my new job and that I am nervous to start.  She wondered why, so I told her it is a lot like starting first grade.  You don't know who is in charge, you don't have friends yet, and you have a lot to learn.  So I told her that she should tell me how she makes friends and that advice would help me out. So, I ask her "Emma - how do you meet kids? How do you make friends?"

"Well Mommy, first you have to be nice.  Kids want to be friends with nice people. Then, you need to sit with them at lunch in the lunchroom and be nice to them.  Then, and this is the hard part, you just have to ask them if they want to be your friend.  I get nervous about that part, but you just need to ask if they will be your friend.  That is what you should do."

At this, my mind starts processing and I ask "Emma - you ask kids to be your friend?"  and she looks at me like I am crazy and says "Well, yea. How else will you know if they want to be your friend?"  and then I start to feel bad and say "do they all say yes?"   per Emma, very nonchalantly: "yea, most of them do."  and this is when I start to feel worried... "Most of them do? People have said no?"  she shakes her head "No, not really... most say yes.  Yea, they say yes"

And that is all I could get out of her. She asks kids to be her friend and most say yes....   I feel bad for my little monkey!  She puts herself out there like that ... those little punks all better say yes to my baby girl.

Evan is 4!

Yea!! My baby boy is 4! We celebrated at the cabin over Labor Day and celebrated here this weekend!  His actual birthdate is September 7.  That night, we had Eric, Jordan, Gaeb, and Seth over for supper - Evan wanted steak! - and cake, and more presents!

More to post, with pictures soon!  I just had to put this on here!

A game night

The kids love playing games and this past Wednesday, Evan wanted to have a game night. Their choice? Headbandz.  Emma got this game for her birthday and they both really enjoy it. The premise?  Put a handband on, select a card and stick it up there (don't look at it) and you ask questions to try and figure out what it is.

Emma thinks the game is hilarious and loves the cards. Evan really likes it too, but doesn't really get it.  His first question to try and figure out what card is on his head?? "What is this?"  or "what card is it?"

We coax him along a little bit so he can still try and figure things out.

The first day of school - 1st grade

This past Tuesday had Emma all excited as it was the first day of school!  Now that she is a big first grader, she knows the routine and had a good morning getting ready. It helped that she was excited to go.  I always have taken the first day of school off from work, so I was there to make chocolate chip pancakes and sausage for the kids.  We got her clothes ready the night before, along with her snacks and everything else she wanted to bring.  The morning was pretty relaxed actually, which was nice.  She gets on the bus now at 8:03 am, which is 40 minutes earlier than the bus picked her up last year.  That was the biggest change for our schedule. However, I set my alarm at 6:30 to ensure I was up early and didn't contribute to a rushed morning.

At about 7:55, we got her backpack on and got outside to snap a few quick pictures and to get her on the bus. The bus picks & drops her off at Kristen's driveway.

The sun was in her eyes. She really was excited to go!

Posing near a rock at Kristen's house.
The bus came and she got on without a problem or a look back.  No tears for this Mama this year either.  I went back to the house and Tim was getting Evan ready for a dentist appointment and then picked up Kristen and went shopping!

The report back from Emma at the end of the day was good.  She was excited that some of her friends were in her class and she really likes her teacher.  Hopefully her excitement continues throughout the school year.

The last weekend of summer

This past weekend we spent a few last days of summer at the cabin.  We made the trek up Thursday evening and we were excited to be able to spend the next four days there, especially with the hot weather we were having for Labor Day.

It was a pretty chill weekend. Friday was nice and relaxing. Emma and I went for a nice two mile walk in the morning while Tim and Evan went fishing.  Emma has been really wanting to spend more one-on-one time with me lately and a walk was a good way to do it.  (She even suggested that we do it every morning.) We walked one mile around the lake to the public landing, which has been a popular spot lately for the kids.  We go there, splash in the lake and find frogs.  I realize that this is not any different than what we can do at the cabin, although for the kids, it is a special trip to go there (especially when we go there on Papa's 4-wheeler). Plus, that place is literally hopping (ha!) with frogs.  Emma caught "Fred" there.  He was a little green frog that Emma caught all by herself and was so proud to keep him for like 30 minutes.  He hung out on her hand or finger and she covered him up with leaves and made him hop and swim. Then, she would catch him again.

Anyway - Friday was a walk and special time with Emma. Then the whole family went golfing again, which went very well.  We stopped at the grocery store, got some ice cream, and headed back home so the kids could play in the lake. The lake has chilled down a bit, but that never stops the kids! They played for awhile while Tim and I relaxed and got supper ready.  We also got out a canoe that we have and the kids really enjoyed going for rides and "helping" row. (and yes, I saw helping very loosely.)  It was good exercise for me and the kids enjoyed seeing the lake in a different way.

Saturday was the annual craft fair in our little neck of the woods, so more lady time was had with my Mom, Emma, and I making the trip, casually walking around, and have lunch there.  We bought a special present for Evan and Emma (posted about later) and then went home.  While the girls were shopping, the boys took the fishing boat out to another lake and tried their luck with fishing. Evan packed a nice little lunch and was excited to go.

Saturday afternoon we celebrated Evan's birthday! We had his aunts and uncles over for barbecue ribs, baked mashed potatoes, texas toast, green beans and homemade cake and homemade ice cream!  Evan was completely in his element and loved entertaining and that a lot of attention was being paid to him.  The food was a hit, as was the cake & ice cream.

Then - PRESENTS!
Our Children are so blessed.  They are showered each birthday and Christmas with many nice things and well wishes from their loving and generous family.  I gave him a small one that I bought him early, while people were visiting to keep him busy and to save me from "Mama?! Can I open my presents now?"  He was really wanting a bow & arrow for his birthday and was so, so happy and excited when he unwrapped this one.  He immediately want to the yard to go shoot something.  And then for the rest of the weekend, if we went for a walk or went anywhere, he had to bring it along in case we saw a bear.

His favorite present.

Learning how to use it.  Unfortunately he is stubborn and wouldn't let us help.  He would sit and put if we would try.

Emma got one as well. I bought these from the craft fair and instead of buying her a trinkety ring or necklace, she wanted one of these. Which, I was all for as her and Evan play with them together a lot.

By the rest of his presents.

His cool new fishing vest.

Preparing for battle.

Finally, cake time!

We celebrated Papa's birthday as well.

Emma's decorations for the party.

It took him awhile to get the candles, but he had fun trying.
Sunday was playing in the lake at Aunt Jill's house and playing with his new toys.  Monday was more of the same.

The weekend went by so fast and it was bittersweet.  I enjoy summer so much, especially with a cabin to go to, and the summers just seem to fly by.  Monday we wanted to get home late afternoon, so we didn't get a lot of time to spend in the lake - although I wanted more. Monday was the best day of the weekend and we got the tube out and the kids were playing a lot in the lake.  With our busy schedule now with Emma's soccer, my school, and a new Sunday School schedule, we may not make it up to the cabin for the next few weeks.   At least, we had fun on Labor Day weekend and got to go swimming one more time!

The snake

Tim was out mowing the lawn last Thursday when he comes in the house with some news. He wounded a garter snake and thought the kids would want to see it. Of course, my creepy crawlie lovin kids bounded outside to take a look.

Just the sight I want to see on my back patio.
Tim wounded it (or ran it over) and knew the kids would want to take a look.  After some initial pokes with a stick and the realization that it wasn't going to move too fast, they decide to pick it up with the assistance of a stick.  Then,  Emma started to pet the snake.  Evan though, didn't get up the nerve.  Emma then, got up the nerve to pick it up with her own hands.  Yuck for me - but of course, playing the supportive Mom the whole time, I talked about how good snakes are and what role they play in the environment.

So proud of herself.
Evan wasn't quite as brave.  He did pick it up with a stick but didn't want any part in touching it.
Yes, it is good that they have an appreciation for wildlife... but snakes?? I am not so sure about that one.

A new beginning

It is time for a new beginning for the Heuer family. After 5 years at Cargill, I have resigned from my position after receiving a job offer at Andersen Windows in Bayport, MN.  There are numerous reasons for the change:

1) Mileage.  While I am only in the office 3 days a week (and work one from home) my commute was about 37 miles ONE WAY.  It sucked.  I got up by 5:30 and left the house by 6am to get to work to avoid crosstown traffic.  I didn't see the kids in the morning and that was really hard as well. So - my new commute is  (wait for it!)  7 miles!  I am saving 30 miles one way.  That's right folks - I am saving 60 miles a day driving.   I am incredibly excited for that change ( and for the lesser amount of fuel purchases)

2) Kid time. With the almost 75 mile commute each day, I wasted at least 1.5 hours a day in traffic. (that is good traffic - God forbid there be a snow storm. That is a 3 hour commute heading home)   That means I now have an extra hour in my day when I start.  Plus,  I can potentially flex my hours to be there when Emma gets off the school bus.

3) Financial reasons... Tim is still unemployed.  I am getting a very nice raise for my new job.  Much needed.

4) Summer hours --  While this new job is a full 5 day work week (which I am not excited about) Andersen Windows has offered their employees summer hours the past few summers. Which means, I can potentially work 4: 10 hour days or something similar to have reduced Friday work time in the summer.

5) Personal growth. I didn't really see where my role was going at Cargill. While I loved the company, I didn't see my 5 year plan there.  Couple that with the long drive time and some difficult employee personalities and it felt like a good time to leave.

I am excited, nervous, but overall happy.  I start my new job September 17 and get most of next week off to relax and celebrate my birthday week.  I am a Senior Supply Chain Analyst, working in their Sliding Glass Door Unit.  I know I have a lot to learn, but change is good and this is a great move for my family.

Wish me luck!

A good day for some golf

A year or two ago, I bought the kids a little set of golf clubs at a garage sale for $5. Because Tim and I like to golf, we thought it was a good idea to get the kids out early and have them start appreciating the game as well. We would let them hit in the yard and they had fun trying to hit the little ball and watching Sage retrieve them. We had been noticing that the garage sale set was getting small for Emma, so to Goodwill we went to buy her a new set of clubs. Since both kids were outfitted with clubs, Tim took them to a driving range to get them more practice and we heading out the following weekend to an executive par three up by the cabin for their first time golfing.

Evan had to carry his clubs like his Daddy - on his back.
The kids were excited to be out.  The nice people at the course let the kids hit for free as we were unsure how well they would like it and how long they would last.  They were both delighted to see the golf cart as they didn't know they got to ride around in style.

They started out well on hole #1 as Tim and I tried to explain the games and the rules. They were champs really.  The par 3 was the best way to go, as it went fast enough for them to keep them motivated.   I started out "golfing" (if you can call it that) with my Dad when I was about Emma's age.  He would go golfing with family or friends and I would come along.  He gave me a few balls, a 7 iron, and let me golf on the same holes he was.  I didn't hit every hole, but I remember running after my ball and remember thinking how far Dad could hit the ball and wanting to do it. (am I there yet? No...)

Evan has a wicked swing.
Both kids hit most holes and really enjoyed riding along in the cart. They said that Tim's golf balls were like magic wands as they went so far & well.  Emma and I had matching pink golf balls (which she thought was awesome) and both kids loved having golf tees in their pockets.  Evan's favorite thing (along with golfing of course) was washing his golf ball.

Proud brother and sister getting ready to golf.

Emma trying out her driver.

And, we followed up after golfing with hamburgers, fries, and ice cream.  Just like I did when I was a kid with my Dad.
