ice skating

We have done a lot of ice skating lately and did get the chance to do that two weekends ago when we were at the cabin. Tim plowed a nice spot on the lake for us to go out and take a few spins.

Taking a break

It appears Emma is practicing for speed skating here

Our lovely cabin in the woods (and our fun sledding hill!)

Evan has come so far!  He made it across our pond a few times without falling down!

I am so proud of both of the kids.  They started not knowing how to even stand on ice to making it across (Evan) and around (Emma) our little rink without falling.  They are not necessarily graceful yet, but that will come.  Evan really wants to play hockey (Mama is not so sure about it) so he is happy to be out there trying.  He does get sick of Tim asking "So Evan.  Is your butt getting sore yet?"  from all the falling he does but he takes it in stride.  Emma thought it was fun out there when we were playing Disney Princesses.  She was Ariel, I would be Ursula, and Evan got to be Sebastian.  Then she was Rapunzel, I was the mean Mom, and Evan was Flynn.  All of her princesses were constantly singing and flitting and fluttering their arms about on the ice.  It was pretty cute.

When we got tired of ice skating, he went sledding down the hill.  Our hill at the cabin has a few obstacles (aka... trees... fire pits... stairs... railing.... dock) to name a few, so it can be quite a feat if you make it down the hill without having to bail so you don't hit something.  The kids are really good at watching for them (and I am always there to steer them off course if needed) and bail a lot down the hill. But, it is worth it! This is a fun hill with lots of bumps to send you flying.  This time it was even doubly fun as there was an ice skating pond at the end to fly you up in the air and onto the rink.

Such fun (especially needed during the head fiasco).
