Emma's birthday party

On Saturday this past weekend, Emma had her birthday party.   When asked what kind of party she wanted, she said she wanted all of the girls in her class over for a sleepover.  Ummm... sure... not going to happen!  So, instead we invited the little ladies in her class over for a "mock" sleepover.  The invitation told the girls to come over in their jammies, bring a sleeping bag, and to watch a movie.  They were going to feast on popcorn, brownies, and ice cream.  Emma was so excited for the party and she had 8 excited girls ready to come over and celebrate her birthday.

Before the festivities, we met the Kellogg's and Nana at Perkins for a lovely breakfast!
The kiddos enjoyed sprinkle or chocolate chip pancakes and some fun times with cousins!  After that it was time to run a few more errands to get ready for the party.  As Tim was out of town for his guys golf weekend (coincidence?? I think not :-)  )  Nana came up to help with the party.  She made many batches of popcorn, helped fill water bottles, and helped keep Emma and Evan occupied while I did some light cleaning.

The party started at 1 and by 1:15, the house was buzzing with little girl giggles, screams, and pitterpatter of running feet throughout the house.  They were so cute in their jams and many came with bags of sleeping bags, pillows, and favorite stuffed animals.  Emma wanted to watch Free Willy, which is her new favorite movie.  This held their interest for maybe 30 minutes and then they were off playing toys, bothering Evan, and running around.

Thankfully the weather was making a turn for the better and they went outside next. They loved the swing set and were running around like crazy out there.  After that... brownies and ice cream!

Evan was sad that the girls didn't want him downstairs with them, so for part of the time, he watched Cars 2 upstairs.

Singing Happy Birthday!

After brownies and ice cream came the thing she was most excited about -- presents!!

She received some many nice presents, such as books, a cute outfit, fun pens, some games, and some other knick-knack things.

Overall, the party went great.  The girls played well and had a nice time.  Emma was polite and was so happy everyone could come over.  I would say this birthday was a success!

(and - Thanks to the cards and such in the mail for Emma.  We are working on Thank you cards, but with my trip to Croatia fast approaching, they may be a bit delayed. But, we are working on them!)
