Friday night we got there late enough so we couldn't see if all the ice was off the lake yet. But Evan was pretty sure we were going fishing either way! We made some popcorn, read some books, and put the kids in bed.
The next morning Evan as up and ready at 5:45am. He asked about jammie fishing while I was ushering him back to bed and assuring him there would be time to fish when the sun came out! He slept then until around 8 and we got ready for our day.

I was doing some laundry when the kids and Tim made their way out to the lake first. The ice was off our portion of the lake, but was still on the other side. Either way, the kids (and Tim begrudgingly) trekked down to the lake to fish. Tim put the dock in while the kids fished off the beach.

Now, for all of you real anglers out there, you probably know that icy cold shallow water is not the place to find fish. The kids didn't quite understand this concept and refused to believe Tim when he told them the fish weren't biting... so we tried for awhile. Once the dock was in, we were fishing there as well. No luck. But, they had fun and their casting is getting much better!
There was only small talk about getting in the lake for swimming and Emma only mentioned once about getting the jet ski out! It will be interesting to see how cold the water is for Memorial Weekend.
The weather wasn't the best up there, in fact looking back, I think it snowed Saturday morning. But the kids had fun, I got all caught up on Dallas (which was great!) and we saw family, which was even better.
We made an early morning trip back home for family pictures on Sunday so our trip was cut short. But still, it is always good to get away and relax.
