Happy Birthday Emma!!

Yea! My baby is 7 years old :-)  How can that be possible?!  Obviously my little lady was so excited for this day because she knows that birthdays around here bring presents, multiple parties, and multiple sweets!

Her birthday was Friday, May 17.  To celebrate the day, she brought Oreo's into the classroom.  Oreo's seem a little odd to some?  She was very concerned with some of the classmates that had allergies to certain things and she knew from past birthdays that Oreo's were a safe food.  So, I brought in Birthday Cake Oreo's and Happy Spring Oreo's for her to celebrate with her classmates.  I also brought her in a Happy Meal from McDonald's and had lunch with her and her classmates.  It was a great, great time!  She is always excited for me to come to her classroom and what a better excuse than her birthday!

That morning before she went into school, she had quite a surprise also -- her presents were there!  We normally don't do presents with kiddos until after school, but this was a special circumstance as Tim was going out of town Friday midday.  So, she woke up to presents and couldn't have been any happier!

I am not sure there could be a bigger smile!  She is so happy to be 7!

Evan is sad he doesn't have presents.

Look!  It is a HUGE one!

She is excited to open the big one!

She was excited to open up a new bike, a new bike helmet and a new design-a-dress Barbie set from  Evan.  After excitedly opening presents, she enjoyed breakfast at home with Daddy and then bounced her way to Kristen's to wait for the bus.

And - what can I say about my little lady at 7?!  She is such a happy-go-lucky kid.  She loves life and is wonderful little one to have around.  She loves singing, playing on her instruments, and arts and crafts.  Her favorite foods??   Chocolate chip pancakes, pizza, and hotdogs.  She doesn't really enjoy pop, althought she never turns it down. She just doesn't drink it.  Her favorite beverage is probably white milk and water. (or a chocolate malt)

She does well in school and while she doesn't always enjoy doing her homework, she is learning a lot.  Right now she is working on adding double digit numbers and learning to add money.  Her classroom has many science experiments, which she loves telling me about.  (and because I thought it was so interesting, they have a mini greenhouse with growing plants, a butterfly zone with cocoons, and butterflies, then, in the middle of their tables, they have a tupperware with worms and bugs in sawdust with food. )

Her favorite animal, by far!, is the shark and she can rattle off many shark facts.  A close second are dolphins or whales.

Her favorite movie is Free Willy and favorite television show would probably be Full House, Austin & Ally or Phineas and Ferb.

Reading has become a favorite past time as of late and she can be found a lot now lying on her bed reading a Junie B Jones book or her new favorite Captain Underpants.  She also loves putting together Lego's and playing with her dolls.

Right now, much time is spent outside swinging and playing on her swingset.  Her and I have been known to bring a blanket outside to lay under a tree and read a book as well.  It is fun.

Emma is such a happy little lady and brings a lot of joy to us.  She is growing up too fast and of course, wishes she was older.  The day after her birthday, she was laying in bed watching cartoons while I tried to sleep for 10 minutes longer when she proclaims " You know Mom, I am almost 8!"
